For over 45 years, the Poverello Center has provided a necessary safety net for our community members living in hunger and houselessness. An award winning non-profit organization, the Poverello Center provides advocacy, education, and a multitude of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of people struggling with poverty in Missoula.

What You’ll Do
The Communications Coordinator reports to the Director of Development and is an integral part of an incredibly dynamic, dedicated, collaborative, and creative development team. The position supports and is supported by the team and is responsible for the following:
- Collaborate with the Development Team to set annual communication goals and strategy around fundraising initiatives;
- Supports the Executive Director and Director of Development communications through local media outlets, including drafting press releases, scheduling interviews and assisting with message strategy;
- Designs and develops copy for external communications including but not limited to blog posts, op eds, and the annual report;
- Manages all details related to creating the Poverello Center’s quarterly newsletter “People of the Pov,” including writing articles, doing all layout for the print and online version, and managing all tasks related to printing and mailing the newsletter to supporters;
- Manages and updates content on the Poverello Center’s website using a CMS
- Manages all of the Poverello Center’s social media accounts which include Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter. Evaluate and implement any use of other potential social media platforms;
- Develops and schedules email communications through our email client server;
- Collects stories from staff, volunteers and guests about the impact the Poverello Center is making in our community;
- Write periodic reports on communication strategy, analytics, and outcomes for the Development Team and Board Development Committee;
- Assist with fundraising appeals by helping to create content, design and layout, and manage all tasks related to mailing and emailing the fundraising appeal;
- Supports the Volunteer Coordinator in all communications related to the recruitment and maintenance of volunteers;
- Provides logistical support to all Poverello Center events;
- Participate in the Poverello Development Team, and other required staff meetings or training;
- Other duties and special projects as directed by the Director of Development and the Executive Director.

- Experience in database, spreadsheet, desktop publishing, word processing programs, and website content management systems (currently using Wordpress) required;
- Experience with video editing, graphic design, and social media content creation preferred;
- Excellent writing and communication skills;
- Brand communication expertise.

This position is full time and is based on 40 hours per week in 8 hour shifts and requires some weekend availability. This position reports to the Director of Development and is based at the emergency shelter in Missoula, Montana. The wage for this position is $18.00-$20.00hourly. In addition, this position includes the following benefits:
