Graland seeks a temporary employee or contractor to join the school’s marketing and communications team for a four month position. The position's primary responsibility is developing content for the school’s internal and external communications. Candidates must have experience writing for a variety of media, each designed to reach varying audiences, including digital and print publications, newsletters, e-blasts, and other digital marketing and web content. The ideal candidate thrives on being part of a community and working on a team. We seek an adaptable, detail-oriented, innovative self-starter.

 Reports to: Director of Marketing and Communications

Terms: Full-time, On-site position, Early - Mid March 2022 - Early July 2022

The following list is not comprehensive but serves as a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities.

Content Marketing

  • Work with the marketing team to develop and execute an overall content strategy and content marketing plan for various school audiences across different mediums. Plan and manage the content calendar.
    • As the “campus reporter,” connect with faculty to seek out stories, propose ideas, inquire and uncover what is happening with students and learning.
    • Visit classroom lessons and school events to gather written and photo/video content.
    • Daily management of social media platforms, including crafting engaging content, monitoring posts, developing social media campaigns, and identifying goals and performance metrics.
    • Produce and approve web content and on-going updates to the external and internal school website.
    • Create communications for individual school initiatives.

School Communications Support

  • Act as editor, writer, and producer for numerous school-wide communications including weekly and monthly e-newsletters, all school emails, and annual publications.
    • Use project management skills to plan content, gather information, edit stories, and collaborate with the community in a timely fashion on content submissions.
    • Prepare content for digital distribution via CMS and email platform, and/or collaborate with the designer for print layout.
  • Provide support for communications from other areas within the school. Ensure all communications uphold the school’s mission, values, and brand proposition and adhere to writing standards. May include drafting, proofreading, editing and/or publishing written communications or presentations.
    • Assist cross-functional departments including school administration, business teams, board of trustees and instructional members with content and distribution of messages.
    • Serve as communications consultant and liaison to the Graland Parent Association (GPA).
  • Partner with the Director of Marketing and Communications to assist with media relations which may include proactively pitching stories and crisis communications.

Community Involvement

  • Actively participate in the school community helping to enrich student learning and experiences, as well as taking on duties to support daily operations.

     Experience in a communications position with management of print, digital, and social media.

Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field preferred.

Experience with content management systems and email platforms. Ability to use: Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Blackbaud Website CMS, Blackbaud Pushpage email software, Constant Contact, Asana, BrightArrow texting platform, Photoshop (basic).

Moderate photography skills using camera, phone, or tablet.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, exhibiting strong grammatical knowledge and AP style. Candidate must have experience writing in both long-form (journalistic pieces etc.) as well as short-form (social media copy, writing for web, newsletter segments etc.).

Resilience to successfully manage self and others through multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Flexibility to adapt plans as needed.

Ability to work autonomously with limited direction, while using intuition and experience to identify and escalate items that might have a larger cross-functional impact.

Strong interpersonal skills that are conducive to working with a collaborative team whether with faculty, staff, volunteers, or students.

Ability to maintain confidential information.

On-campus position. As needed, may require availability on evenings and weekends.

Must adhere to City and County of Denver health order (8.2.2021) requiring all school employees and contractors to be fully vaccinated and individual must provide proof of vaccination.
