The following describes the various aspects of the designated job.  Some or all of these aspects may be changed over time, with or without notice, at the sole discretion of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education International (ACGME-I).

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States (U.S.) on a full-time basis.  The ACGME will not provide employment sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B Visa or other U.S. employment authorization).


The Manager, Marketing and Communication, International Activities, partners in the development and implementation of proactive, strategically driven marketing communication plans to support the business development efforts of ACGME Global Services and ACGME-I. This position will be the lead communications professional responsible for researching target audiences and proposing appropriate channels, including creating new ones, to effectively reach these international audiences. The Manager will also support broader communication efforts of the Department.


  • Identify communications needs and promotional channels for Global Services and ACGME International (ACGME-I) clients based on organizational priorities, including target audiences, differentiation of GME standards and situations in various areas of the world, and present communications options to internal ACGME stakeholders for reaching those audiences.
  • Develop communication strategies and approaches, including identifying target audiences and channels, and recognizing and adapting to local conditions, cultural dynamics, and the extensive variations in graduate medical education and accreditation systems in other areas of the world
  • Draft and implement strategic communication plans and implement tactics, such as promotional text, web pages, press releases, brochures, social media posts, and blogs, as well as occasional scripts for podcasts and videos, in alignment with established ACGME and ACGME-I editorial style and in cooperation with ACGME Distance Learning.
  • Coordinate web page design and content development, working with the ACGME web team to launch new web pages.
  • Support the editorial services function within the department, following the ACGME Style Guide and The Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Working with the ACGME-I, Global Services and the ACGME editorial team, support the development of the ACGME-I and Global Services annual reports.




  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of seven years of professional or experience in international communications required.
  • Background knowledge and willingness to learn about the range of medical education and accreditation systems that exist in other areas of the world.
  • Experience developing and executing marketing and communications campaigns, working with internal and/or external stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to target communications to specific audiences in a variety of media;.
  • Sensitivity to different cultures, and ability to adapt communication and writing styles to them as appropriate.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms such as Hootsuite.
  • Ability to create web text for international audiences and work with webmasters to create web pages that communicate clearly, are well designed, and achieve the goals of communications plans.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and operate efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Team player with an ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders. 


  • Several years of experience working in health care, academic, or not-for-profit setting.
  • Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience drafting scripts for promotional podcasts and videos.
  • Familiarity with The Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Experience with blog writing a plus

  • Demonstrated sound judgment, common sense and dependability.
  • Ability to process existing and new information and apply information to novel situations.
  • Skilled in working under tight timelines and comfortable balancing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Enthusiastic team player with a strong work ethic and demonstrated flexibility, particularly dealing with multiple cultures and over global time zones.
  • Superior organizational and workflow management skills.


  • This position is situated in a normal office environment with no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands.
  • Most of the work performed is normally done in the ACGME office and/or home office with the typical physical demands of an office environment. During the COVID-19 pandemic, ACGME employees are working remotely until further notice. The employee must be able to work efficiently and effectively remotely.

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) is responsible for the Accreditation of post-MD medical training programs within the United States. Accreditation is accomplished through a peer review process and is based upon established standards and guidelines.
