The Account Director is crucial to our success by building a long-lasting relationship with clients and understanding their business. 

Job Summary

An Account Director at Sweat + Co is a dream role for a PR person — not only do you get to use your media and strategy chops, but you have the opportunity to shape your client’s story on a fundamental level. The Account Director brings strategic insight, strong media relationships and management skills to all of their accounts. The Account Director builds excellent client relationships, ensures client satisfaction and participates in the overall growth and profitability of their account. The position reports directly to the founder of Sweat + Co, Jeff Sweat.

The position is virtual, with flexibility and competitive benefits.



Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Understand your client on a fundamental level and lead Sweat + Co’s discovery process with agencies, the Agency Vitals Assessment.
  • Act as a senior PR and communications consultant on key accounts, which are primarily advertising agencies.
  • Possess strong relationships with editors and reporters at top-tier advertising and business trade such as Adweek, Ad Age/Creativity, Fast Company, Digiday, The Drum, Campaign, Media Post and Business Insider.
  • Develop and execute and PR communications strategies at a senior level.
  • Act as point of contact for all requests from reporters and oversee leadership interviews.
  • Strategize thought leadership opportunities such as op eds, speaking engagements, and agency awards.
  • Look for opportunities to grow business with existing clients through additional services.
  • Write positioning statements, press releases, pitch letters, client memos and other materials with little to no editing from supervisors.

  • Can manage long-term projects.
  • Experience managing a team and multiple client accounts.
  • Knowledge of when to rely on personal judgment and when to seek advice.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, passion and intellectual curiosity.
  • Must be collaborative and results driven.
  • Must possess fearlessness and warmth.

Qualifications 

  • 7+ years experience working for or with advertising agencies in an account management/development role
  • Experience leading an account team within a PR agency.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in PR or journalism.
  • Experience working with media and influencers; you have strong media relationships and knowledge of what it takes to pitch and secure stories.
  • Love for news with a finger on the pulse.
  • Superior writing and editing skills — able to communicate creatively and in an engaging manner.
