Women In Product is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to equip women to thrive in product management careers at all levels.

Status: Full time + Benefits

Responsibilities:

The Director of Marketing & Communications is a member of the leadership team of Women In Product reporting directly to the CEO. They oversee all marketing and communications activities across multiple channels both online and in-person. This job will require both strategic and tactical skills – we are a small organization, and everyone pitches in where needed – but will have a combination of employee and contractor resources to meet our needs. 

As an organization with many events, programs, entry points, and initiatives, the Director of Marketing & Communications will be integral in making sure all external communications are consistent and organized while activating the appropriate audiences.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and implement a marketing and communications plan based on current organization strategy and annual OKRs.
  • Develop a content calendar with quarterly themes in collaboration with the Program and Event teams. Implement the calendar across all of our online touch points including website, social media, and other digital platforms such as YouTube, LinkedIn to drive acquisition and engagement in our programming, including the annual conference.
  • Use analytic tools to drive strategic and tactical decision-making in all aspects of marketing.
  • Provide tools, guidance and focus on effective and consistent use of our brand both visually and through messaging for our internal events team as well as our chapter and community leaders. 
  • Drive awareness and registrations for in-person and online events produced by our internal events team and secondarily for our chapter and community leaders. 
  • Support sponsor and partner sales efforts as appropriate.
  • Build, manage, and coach an effective and diverse marketing team.
  • Create and manage departmental budgets.
  • Develop a deep understanding of women and the challenges that they face working in product management at all levels.  Utilize market research, program testing and other tools to gain insights. Connect with and constantly listen to the communities we serve to understand their needs.
  • Collaborate effectively across the organization with:
    • CEO, Women In Product Board, and other key staff on objectives, budgets, and reporting key results
    • Operations and Programs to ensure clear and frequent communications with internal and external stakeholders and consistent messaging. 
    • Senior staff to identify and build systems and processes that assist in delivering key results
    • Event team to support theme, content, and messaging for conference 
  • Some travel as be necessary.


Requirements

Candidates should have relevant experience in one or more marketing disciplines but are not expected to have performed all of the responsibilities previously. As an organization, we focus on growth and progress not perfection so candidates should have a growth mindset, and be willing to tackle new ideas and challenges. 

  • 5+ years’ experience in one or more of the following marketing disciplines such as content marketing, email marketing, social media, e-commerce, or product marketing
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement overall marketing and communications strategy in support of organizational objectives
  • Experience with developing and managing a marketing budget that includes working with outside vendors or contractors such as designers, copywriters, and web developers to achieve goals within budget 
  • Knowledgeable about quantitative and qualitative measures, market research, design thinking, and growth marketing to generate ongoing learning
  • Good leadership skills and track record of effective team leadership
  • Proven ability to collaborate across functionally and geographically distributed teams
  • Excellent writer and editor able to produce compelling and succinct marketing messages as well as briefs for creative design production.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Must be a collaborative team player who always seeks to learn and grow while being able to challenge the status quo
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, creative, and strategic thinker, comfortable working independently, with high personal accountability
  • Thrives in highly dynamic and often ambiguous environments
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required. Must be able to work effectively with a spectrum of personalities and lead diverse teams effectively
  • College degree preferred but not required
